Fresh Coffee

Seasonal and direct

Fresh coffee for our customers is one of the most important aspects of our business. As a coffee roastery “fresh” does not only mean offering freshly roasted coffee to our customers. Rather, it also takes into account sourcing green coffee from origin immediately after harvest and transporting it to Berlin to be roasted. The coffees that we have on offer are therefore related directly to harvest times in the cultivation areas of our partners.

Coffee growing areas lie near to the equator, mainly between the Tropics of Capricorn and the Tropics of Cancer. Here, harvest times are determined by the state of the sun from north to south over the course of the year. For example, countries such as Costa Rica, India and Ethiopia that lie north of the equator, harvest times are between September and December. Countries such as Indonesia and Papua New Guinea that lie south of the equator usually begin harvest in April or May and can last until August. Exceptions are countries that lie directly on the equator, such as Ecuador, Colombia, Rwanda and Kenya that can produce coffee all year round, given the correct altitude.

Based on this coffee harvest schedule we are able to buy, roast and sell coffees from many different countries around the world at varying times of the year, without interfering with the natural course of nature. With this seasonal concept, nature determines the supply and not the demand.
